FUBU Q
Under a purple desert sky, with the sunset bleeding into a bassline, FUBU Q feels right at home. Calm, centered, and full of intention, he doesn’t just perform, he channels. with roots in hip-hop and house and a heart grounded in community, FUBU Q is the kind of artist who makes you lean in. His music doesn’t just move you, it reminds you why you listen in the first place. “I’m a musical artist who likes to make a collaboration of hip-hop and dance music,” he says. His influences are wide and deep: 90s hip-hop, early house music from Chicago and Detroit, neo-soul, and R&B. “All this knowledge of music,” he says, “propelled me to take my own artist liberties.”
His sound exists in a sweet spot where funk meets flow, and groove meets grit. There’s nothing calculated about it. “It’s always a labor of love,” he explains.
“As soon as I make a track, I feel like I already won.”
And that love shows. From playing major festivals like Coachella and EDC to performing at small local venues, FUBU Q shows up with the same energy: warm, present, and always rooted in self-expression.
“If other people like it, that’s just a bonus.”
But his vision isn’t just about himself. His eyes light up when talking about Palmdale, his hometown. “I want to create a foundation of shows for people who like this kind of music,” he says, “and uplift others with similar ideologies.” Whether it’s a local bar like Transplants or the Palmdale Amphitheater, you can tell the dream is real—and personal.
His 2019 EP Left-Handed Artifacts is a prime example of his style, raw, groovy, and introspective. A standout track, Lochness, fuses house rhythms with layered bars and a signature West Coast feel. “It’s not my most popular track, but it’s always been dear to my heart,” he says.
“Melodic funk house with double entendres—that’s my favorite kind of blend.”
Even when the world takes him far from home—like a DJ set in Tokyo—he carries the same grounded energy. “The crowd wanted something different than I expected,” he reflects. “But once I adjusted, I figured it out.” What stood out most wasn’t the music, but the people.
“They were gracious, kind, loving... the vibe was absolutely awesome.”
If music hadn’t found him? He’d still be creating. Or helping others. “I’d want to do something where I could make people feel more comfortable and use my strengths to help in a time of need.”
FUBU Q is the real thing. A groove architect. A voice of intention. A name you’ll remember, not just for the music, but for the meaning behind it.
